This is a really beautiful longer trail in the garden and the most magical part through the ancient trees of Rosemoor complete with beautiful sculptures and mist. We loved the twinkling lights, lit up trees and the fire last year. On certain days there’s extra entertainment too. Always on my husband’s Christmas to do! We take pjs so the kids can fall asleep in the car on the way home too after a fabulous family evening.
Here’s my reel from 2022:
Immerse yourself in festive light and sound at RHS Rosemoor and enjoy our atmospheric, illuminated trail and stunning light displays, with entertainment each evening.
Explore the light fantastic: Experience this jewel of a garden on a wondrous trail of festive light and colour. With even more amazing displays than before, this year’s longer trail includes six uplifting soundscapes to guide you through the beautiful gardens, woodlands and open spaces of RHS Rosemoor.
Bask in the glow: Discover a shimmering woodland wonderland, behold a spectacular ‘field of fire’ and enjoy family entertainment every night, ranging from magicians, live music, fire artists, light performers and costumed characters.
Food and drink: Looking for something to keep you aglow? Choose from a delicious selection of hot takeaway options to take with you or treat yourself to some mulled wine, mince pies, soup and cakes en route, to enjoy as you explore the trail.

Our Biggest Event Yet! We’re ending our centenary year in style with our biggest ever festive event! Join us after dark for an immersive light experience featuring a variety of beautiful, interactive light installations, entertainers and a silent disco.
An Immersive Light Experience: The journey will begin with a giant illuminated storybook inviting you to step into a magical world… from there you will adventure around the zoo and be amazed by a variety of bright, colourful and interactive light installations. The experience includes fibre optics and kaleidoscope projectors. There will be giant lit up trees and tunnels, a magical wishing well, playful lit up creatures and much more.
A Blue Hue: During our centenary, we’ve been looking back at our founder Herbert Whitley. The colour blue is a common theme and this fondly links back to our founder Herbert Whitley. Whitley had a fascination with the colour blue, and over the years he selectively bred a whole host of blue flowers and animals. It’s been 100 years since Whitley first opened our zoo gates and this light experience is set to honour his legacy and celebrate our biggest ever milestone.

Zooluminate is back! Bigger and better than ever! Experience a magical and wintery walk around our gorgeous site, taking in a series of beautiful light installations (from JHAV, the incredible team that brought you The Atlantic Project and Illuminate Festival of Light), which bring the zoo to life after dark in the most enchanting way possible!
There are stunning installation spaces the entire way around our site, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities for those selfies, plus – some of our enclosures are going to be illuminated, so you might even get the chance to see our animals all snuggled up for the night.
We can’t guarantee the animals will be outside of their cosy homes, but the lights have been specifically researched and chosen to illuminate without causing any harm or disruption, so if they’re outside, you should be able to capture some wonderful evening photos of our very happy animals.

An exciting light trail is set to illuminate Torquay this Christmas, as part of the Bay of Lights, which is FREE and accessible. Wander through a light tunnel along the seafront that blinks in time with the festoon lighting. Can you find the 12-metre-high Christmas Tree? It will surprise you with a spectacular digital sound and light show.
Along the route, additional lighting will add some glittering Christmas magic to the town and around the harbourside, as well as in the trees and sunken gardens – even the pond in Abbey Park. There will also be lighting on the curly bridge at Abbey Sands. Discover several unexpected light installations along the trail, as well as entertainment walkabouts and other surprises on selected nights.
The 1.5-mile trail will wind its way along Torquay’s iconic waterfront. It will start from Abbey Park, through the Tunnel of lights. It will then go up over the curly bridge, across the seafront promenade and end at the harbourside. You can follow the route in whichever direction you prefer. At installation nine along the trail, you will find a selection of pop-up food and drink vendors.
