Surfing Cow Ice Cream, South Battisborough Farm, Holbeton, Plymouth, PL8 1JY

Sunny blooms and ice cream – a winning combination! For 2022, we have a few different varieties so not just yellow flowers. Walk amongst the sunflowers and enjoy the beautiful flowers and the view. Pay for your flowers at the till on arrival & head to the Sunflower Field at the top of the garden! Bring your own secateurs or borrow a pair from us.

You’ll find us on the road to Mothecombe beach, just follow our surfboard signs and you may be lucky enough to see the girls crossing the road to head to the milking parlour for afternoon milking. At the end of the road you’ll find our shop, where you can buy your perfect scoop (or two…or three) of our delicious gelato to enjoy in our huge garden, which overlooks the sea and has plenty of benches and space for picnics (we think it’s quite spectacular!)

Price: Free entry.
£5 for a bunch of 7 flowers, any extra flowers are £1 per stem
Opening times: 12-5pm
Dogs: Dogs on leads very welcome

How to increase the vase life of your sunflowers

Taking tips from Sarah Raven, do the following steps when you get home in order to maximize the longevity of your flowers.

  • Strip the leaves off the part of the stem that will be under the waterline (it is bacteria in the water that bungs up the stems and destroys the longevity of the flowers.)
  • Re-cut the stems on the angle (so they can draw water freely)
  • Put the bottom inch of the stem into a mug of boiling water for 30 seconds (you will see little air bubbles escaping)
  • Refresh the water every few days or so or add a tiny splash of Milton to the water to keep the water clear.
