Shute Fruit and Produce is a family-run Pick Your Own farm by farm by Lori Reich and David Lamboll.  Their pumpkins and gourd-geous squashes are ready for picking generally by mid-October (date to be decided by the pumpkins).  Prices of pumpkins range from £1 – £5.  A range of squashes such as Harlequin, Crown Prince and Kabocha are also available. There are no buildings (including no toilets) available for the public to shelter from the wet- so come dressed for the weather (and with an empty bladder)!

Arguably, the prettiest pick your own in Devon, it boasts views of boats bobbing along the Teign estuary and you might even be fortunate enough to see the Flying Scotsman chugging past, all from the pick your own fields.

There’s also lots of other pick your own available. Full list on the website but generally at this time of year runner beans, french beans, raspberries, etc.  For parents, we also sell sloes so they can make their own gin ready in time for Christmas.

Well behaved dogs are welcome, but not amongst the fruit and vegetables.

A great variety of pumpkins for all halloween creations – some the biggest and best ever grown on the farm. Be sure to enjoy wheeling your chosen gourd round the farm in the wheelbarrows provided and stock up of fabulously fresh fruit and veg from Ben’s farm shop.

Here’s what they say:

There is a very strong possibility the government will have a national lockdown throughout half term and this means you must come and pick your pumpkins early this year. They will last better at your homes than they will in the field so don’t worry about them being picked well in advance of Halloween.

I cannot stress how important it is to come and pick your pumpkins as soon as possible. As soon as lockdown starts we won’t be able to let anyone on to the farm. We have loads of pumpkins this year and some are the biggest I have ever grown. I have white ones warty ones and traditional. They will be priced on size starting from £3 and to a maximum of £6 for the most enormous. I also have some wheelbarrows for you to use to collect them in. There is no need to book just turn up and explore the pumpkin patches and pick the ones you like. Cash or card accepted.

I really look forward to seeing lots of you again this season.

We can also now bring you the most delicious honey, produced direct from our bees right here on the farm. Raw, unpasteurised and unfiltered, available in jars or slabs of  marvellous honeycomb.
