Dartmoorbeasties were born 2 years ago as part of an arts council funded community art project in Moretonhampstead. As an entertainment and event artist my larger artworks are an inspiration for the smaller pieces, promoting and celebrating creative play with a ‘do-it-yourself’/street-art ethos for adults and children alike. Whilst these pieces draw on urban underground art and comic-book monsters, they bring this into conversation with local Devon myths of pixies and ‘little people’, reimagining them for the 21st century. My name is Laura Loft and I am a Music Creator & Educator based in Exeter. All my products are Music Wellbeing Resources for Children (although they have translated well for some adults too!) plus I have a selection of other musical delights.
My book ‘Big Emotions: Mindful Music For Little People’ has been beautifully and thoughtfully created with designs from Nia Gould. It is a preventative tool for children to help recognise their big emotions and learn how to regulate through using music.
