Christmas is coming, and Devon is prepping itself for a sparkling burst of colour!There’s something so magical about fairy lights glowing after dark and the beautiful illuminations popping up all over Devon show that we all just love them. So if you fancy wandering around one of the twinkling light displays, here’s a fabulous list, so you don’t miss out on the best of this magical season.

Exmouth’s Winter mini-festival; live music, lanterns and light
On Saturday 4th December you’re invited to carol singing, live music, walk-about performers and the annual children’s lantern parade to celebrate the start of the festive season.
This free, family-friendly mini-festival, organised by Exmouth Town Council, hopes to welcome the community back together with warmth and light to celebrate the Town’s creativity.
Starting at 4pm local choirs and musicians will be performing on a temporary stage in the Strand. They will be accompanied by festive walk-about performers including roller-skating presents, light up hula hoopers and larger than life animals. The children’s lantern parade will set off at 5.30pm from Holy Trinity Church and lead the way to the Christmas tree light switch on at 6pm.

Imagine a wonderland of colourful lighting and festive themes all in one place. Connaught@Christmas reimagines the tranquil Connaught Gardens nestling above Sidmouth high above the sea. The unique illuminated trail has a number of themed areas to enjoy plus the chance to view a Christmas grotto with a certain VIP visitor.
This enchanting 1-2 hour experience is made even more joyful with yuletide music and carols performed on the bandstand in the heart of the gardens and warming mulled wine and hot chocolate also on offer.

Visit after hours for a brand new, after-dark illuminated trail through festive gardens at Killerton. We’ll add a dash of sparkle and a sprinkle of seasonal cheer to over a million lights, larger-than-life illuminations and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Discover sparkling tunnels of light, walk under giant baubles and beneath trees drenched in jewel-like colour. Get the festive feeling watching the flickering flames in the fire garden, gaze at the specially chosen illuminations and don’t forget to look out for Father Christmas along the way.
Our crew of talented independent street food vendors bring a delicious twist to tasty treats on offer. Have yourself a holly, jolly Christmas and complete your walk under the stars with a *spiced winter warmer, *hot chocolate or *toasted marshmallows shared with someone special (*separate charges apply for festive treats).

It’s time to Glow! See the garden sparkle this festive season and follow dazzling displays lighting a magical trail.
Enjoy a magical adventure at RHS Garden Rosemoor, discovering spectacular new lighting displays along the way. On our longest trail yet, see your favourite garden areas, such as the Rose Gardens, Winter Garden, Lake and Cool Garden, light up the night with festive colour and sparkle. This year, for the first time, wander the extended trail through the Lower Woodland Walk, and marvel at Rosemoor’s majestic trees, shrubs and water features, as well as selected sculptures, bathed in beautiful light.

After last year’s sell out event, we are delighted to announce the return of Christmas at the Castle throughout December 2021! Our light walk will extend over a mile through the grounds and gardens of Powderham Castle. We’ve also modified the route to ensure no steps, grassy paths or muddy tracks!
This year, we’re opening the castle so that visitors can explore! Beautifully decorated for Christmas and with exciting light features, displays and story telling.
The trail will lead all the way to the Secret Garden, where our animal friends will be waiting to meet you. With warm drinks and snacks available from the Potting Shed.
The Christmas Barn will become a magical market, with traders and crafts people, perfect to get some of your Christmas presents. Plus the mulled wine and cider bar and a selection of delicious food vendors perfect for dinner accompanied by festive music.
Plus, our Christmas Grotto will be returning too! Tickets once again will be limited and so we invite you to book as soon as possible.
The walk will be buggy friendly, with no steps or muddy grass obstacles!
