About Cofton Holidays, Devon

Cofton Holidays is an eco-friendly and award winning tourist destination nestled within 80 acres of glorious Devon countryside and just 20 mins from Exeter, but the great news for us locals is you don’t have to be on holiday there to enjoy all their many facilities, as we found out.

Our Day Visit at Cofton

Our day trip to Cofton Holiday Park was a hit! When my eldest was little we used to go swimming at Cofton regularly and loved it (in fact it was one of the first things I shared on LittleDevon website – Cofton Swimming here), but then Covid came along and we didn’t pick back up the habit – it was so good to be reminded of why we used to love it and see just how much more there’s to do.  We managed to jam pack our day, by my husband and I doing a lot of tag teaming, which is not something we normally do, but it worked really well to give us both some wonderful self-care time which is rare as a parent to little ones.

Our visit was on a wet Saturday in February so we mostly explored the indoor offerings, but I know that Cofton would also be perfect for an outdoor fun day with the kids too. Here’s everything we managed to squeeze into our day and how we did it.

Yoga & Outside Parks

10-11: We arrived for my wonderful restorative yoga session – perfect after the mad morning getting children out the door!  The yoga teacher was so welcoming and I really enjoyed focussing on my breath work and having the chance to practise yoga – something that I always love but don’t often make time for. While I was being all zen, my husband took the kids and dog to explore the dog exercise park, the woods and the play park for them all to let off some steam while it was dry.

Family Swim & Sauna & Steam Room

11:30-12:30: We then headed for a family swim in the pool (dog in the car at this point!). The heated pool is lovely with bubbles and jets coming on periodically, which the kids loved.  Swimming is always the perfect wet weather day out with kids. There is a sauna and a steam room too just on the way to the changing rooms so my husband and I took turns – one adult stayed with the kids and the other enjoyed being in the heat.  I love a hot sauna! Having it as part of the swim was such a great way to be able to grab that moment for ourselves. Imagine having a weekly sauna as part of your family swim- bliss!

(We obviously weren’t able to take photos in the pool – so here are some lovely ones Cofton sent me)

Amelia’s Cafe & Restaurant

1-2: The kids and I then quenched our post swim hunger at Amelia’s Cafe & Restaurant which boasts a new ‘field to fork’ menu, using locally sourced Devonshire produce. I enjoyed my burger and chips for lunch, while my daughter loved her pulled pork wrap (lettuce removed!) and my son the sausages and chips from the kids’ menu.  Cofton have dip & dine offers that are worth looking at too – perfect for the weekend or afterschool.  During this time my husband was able to enjoy a massage in the newly refurbished The Beauty Room.

Arcade

2- 3: We then headed to the arcade just downstairs – a new experience for my two children. We had fun playing all sorts of different games. My son loved the sit on motorbike to ride! I introduced my daughter to air hockey- we had a few games of this together! And we all enjoyed a game of bowling.  The machines take credits that you put onto a card (credit card style) so there’s no cash involved. My children loved the independence of how they were going to spend their credits and really understood that once the credits were finished then there was no more games.

Soft Play and snacks

3-4: My husband then had a bite to eat and the children an afternoon sugar high with cake and soft play – a great way to extend your day out! Even though the soft play is small, it entertained them the whole time! They made friends and played together – something that is perhaps somehow easier on a holiday park.  There’s an area for 0-3 and one for up to 8s and it’s right next to the tables – perfect for you to be able to keep an eye on them while you finish your meal and they play.

The Beauty Room

Now it was my turn to be completely spoilt in The Beauty Room with a mud cocoon treatment. It was utterly fab!  The Beauty room has recently been refurbished and offers a variety of Beauty treatments – so whether you’re hoping for some grooming or a treat – they’ll have it.

Outdoor offerings at Cofton

It was a great way to spend a rainy Saturday and I can’t believe we still haven’t explored all Cofton has to offer!  We’d love to enjoy their outdoors, including the pump track which looks great fun for scooters as well as bikes, there’s a fishing lake and in the summer a fabulous looking splash pad and outdoor pool. And if you have older children the tree-top adventure looks ace. I think we need to enjoy one of their lodges for a weekend to fit it all in! but I guess that’s the beauty of living locally – there’s so many fun days out with the kids possible in just one location.

Family Day Out & Quality Self Care

I realise this was an epic and jam packed day out – but what I love is the idea of easily being able to slot in one little bit of self care either side of the family activity.  Whether it’s a 10 min sauna after a family swim or a yoga class beforehand, or even the ultimate treat of a massage. It’s such a great way to carve out some self care time out while not missing out on a family day. Giving ourselves some self-care time on a family day out is something that we as a family have never done, but now realise how achievable it is when everything is in one place!

I love that this family holiday resort is open to us locals and we can enjoy the fabulous facilities. Thank you Cofton Holidays for a great PR visit.
