Lifton Farm Shop

Head to Lifton Farm Shop for for some ‘bright red and deliciously sweet’ pick your own strawberries.  With no booking required, just head into the Farm Shop to collect your basket and then go wild in the fields – PYO strawberries start from £6.95 per kg.

After you have finished in the fields, the children will also enjoy the small play park and the space for running around which is just next to the outdoor tables – perfect for you to be able to keep and eye on the preschoolers while having a quieter lunch.  Or take a picnic blanket to sit on the lawn with babies so crawlers can have a bit of freedom too.

Enjoy lunch or coffee and cake in the fantastic new extension and do leave time for a wander round the farm shop which will not leave you disappointed.  There is great food at the restaurant/café which, along with the Farm shop, won Gold for South West Café/Tea Room in the Taste of the West 2017. “This farm shop café is fantastic and is full of fabulous food – most of it is grown on the farm.  The staff are all really knowledgeable and efficient, and the café itself is well lit and nicely decorated.”

With everything you need to turn your strawberry haul into a full afternoon tea, Lifton is the perfect place.

There are loos and a large car park so it’s easy with the kids and parents can stock up on lovely organic veg (some from Pips so pretty much as low food miles as you can get!) at Ben’s Farm Shop and Grower’s Organic Plant Centre.

Royal Oak Farm

The Blackdown Hills (an area of natural beauty) where Royal Oak farm is nestled is a beautiful setting for picking your own strawberries with your little ones. Royal Oak Farm then enhances this typical English setting by offering a quaint traditional tea room where tea is served in fine bone china tea sets accompanied by freshly baked scones, local clotted cream and homemade jam.  Deliciously indulgent!  Light lunches include home-made quiche, home-grown jacket potatoes and freshly prepared toasted sandwiches served with salad.  While the tea room is quaint, there is lots of outdoor space and beautiful gardens where the toddlers and babies can enjoy themselves.

Don’t forget the farm shop too where you can shop for fruit and veg, meat from local farms (including Royal Oaks own farm) and frozen, homemade ready meals.
